Movie Thoughts - Star Wars: The Force Awakens Movie (2015)

Tick.. tick…tickled. I am so tickled. I’ve been being so tickled this whole time, finding the right time to pour my thoughts regarding The Force Awakens into a writing. I think there will never be a right time unless I do it, right? So…Here you go.

J.J Abram, yes, this man. He is I think one of a few directors who has the ability to find balance between real emotion and playfulness, the sensibility that both Spielberg and Lucas have. After years and years spending time with Vulcans and Klingons (I love his work on Star Trek too), and now he babysits this mega saga under his own direction. It must be so terrifying to take on something so precious, that had defined everyone’s childhood. Brave! And he did a great job 👏

Next thing I want to talk about is the Villain. Kylo Ren. The internet seems to split whether or not he’s a disappointment or a total bad-ass. In the story, he’s narrated as a ghost of Anakin’s past mistakes and the representation of hate, arrogance and vulnerability. From my own perspective, tho, he’s like a do-over of Anakin’s character. There must be something so tragic happened to him just like it did to his grandfather. He could be the second chance to showcase a headstrong and powerful yet naive anti-hero into a total darkness. (But of course I dont hope for that. I want him to insyaf).

This giant company that owns this franchise right now has successfully awakened the love and the euphoria that have been hushed for the past ten years. I looove how they keep it original yet still fresh. So good to see the original characters are there and aging so well 😄😘 And daaaaaat heart-breaking scene when Han… aaaaa it’s so devastating to know that the history always repeats 😭 However…. this movie is too green. I know it’s R-rated but it’s too safe. Too Disn*y. There you go. Nyebut merek. C'moon. We get it. It’s your movie now. But please don't put those cliche lines again. Lol. Peace. I still love it. Really looking forward to the next one and so on.

Movie Thoughts - Legend (2015)

Time to talk about this British drama movie, Legend. The film features the double-trouble presence of Tom Hardy as both Reggie and Ronnie Kray, the twins who ruled London in 60s.

Actually, this is more about the performance of the man who once again makes me swoon by his mag-ni-fi-cent acting talent. He plays the schizophrenic, thoughtless and brutal but comical Ronnie Kray convincingly, while the other one, Reggie, is a swaggy, charming and romantic but sadistic Kray which he also plays him very gracefully. You can say that one is more a hero and the other is more a monster, but Tom makes sure the lines blur so you can’t really tell. The moment you think A is the badie and B is the goodie, you will then realize that it can be the other way around coz both are smartly twisted in their own characteristic. And Tom is killing it.

It’s basically a family drama between two bad boys. The special thing is these boy do not broke neighbors’ windows with their balls, but they own bar, shoot people in their head, and rule London hahaha. I love the Reggie-Ronnie brawl scene. It shows how much Reggie hates Ronnie and really wants to kill him, but he can’t coz he loves him. Aww~ It’s a rare thing to see: an actor creating chemistry with himself 👏👏 👏

The story is narrated by Reggie’s loving and delicate wife, to whom they (Reggie and Ronnie) are LEGEND.

After watching this, I finally discovered that the term “Kray Kray/Cray Cray” doesnt refer to the word “Crazy” but it refers to the Kray brothers who were completely Kray Kray back then lol
